OIART resources for OMEA educators
Help your students discover where sound can take them.
OIART resources for OMEA educators
For the student who plays an instrument, makes beats, runs sound for school productions—or simply loves music, movies and games—there may be more career possibilities than they realize.
Use these resources to start that conversation in your classroom, then connect their curiosity to an experience at OIART.

Start with what your students already love.
The OIART Career Soundscape is an interactive guide to 46 careers across six areas of audio: music and recording, live sound, film and television, games, broadcast, and audio technology.
Students choose up to four interests and discover careers connected to them. They can explore what each job involves, the skills it draws on, how those skills connect to learning at OIART, and stories from OIART graduates working in the industry.
Students can follow their interests or explore the complete career map. It’s a starting point for discovery—and a way to see how one interest can connect to several different paths.

Bring your students to OIART.
Move from exploring careers on a screen to seeing an audio learning environment in person.
OIART welcomes school groups to its London, Ontario campus and works with educators on workshops and career exploration. Opportunities described in our teacher guide include studio visits, conversations with students and instructors, and experiences connected to SHSM learning goals.
Planning a SHSM experience?
Connect with Hanni Shahatto, OIART’s Pro Tools instructor and high school consultant, to discuss your students’ interests and your program’s goals, including experiential learning, reach-ahead and sector-partnered experiences.
When you get in touch, include your school, grades, approximate group size, preferred dates and the areas of audio your students would like to explore.

Keep the conversation going.
Explore our teacher guide, request audio career posters and classroom materials, or ask about guest speakers and virtual workshops.

With over 40 years of history, our alumni win Juno, Emmy, and Golden Globe awards. We don’t just teach audio; we launch careers.

Accelerated 11-Month Program
We respect the student's time and investment. Our intensive, one-year format gets them into the workforce three years sooner than traditional university programs.
