Anthony Jestin (06) is a perfect example of the wide variety of careers in audio where OIART graduates find success. While many work in music production, live sound and audio for picture, the world of audio and video system design and installation is lucrative, challenging and extremely enjoyable. Anthony is currently the A/V Design Specialist at Genesis Integration (www.genint.com) in Edmonton, and has worked there since just shy of a month of graduation. He said, My decision to go to OIART was simple I just wanted to very best education in how audio worked and this was the place to get it. The field I am in was the career I wanted. Even before I went to OIART, I had decided Genesis was where I wanted to hang my hat. The knowledge I gained in the physics, mathematics, and principles of audio was one of the main factors that led to my hiring ten years ago.”
In his time with Genesis, Anthony has held positions in installation, programming, systems drafting, systems sales, technical account management, and most recently A/V Design Specialist. He has had the privilege of working on some of the company’s largest and most complex projects, with his designs being implemented in several provinces and territories across the country. In the last two years alone he has worked on projects for both the National Energy Board of Canada and Interpipeline, both based in Calgary. With one of these projects eclipsing 90+ boardroom and meeting room systems, all interconnected and monitored, the design work on this project was immense. Anthony said, “It was a rewarding project to see come to completion. Thanks OIART for all you do and have done for your students and graduates!
