Housing in London

Finding A Place To Live

So you’ve been accepted to OIART, now you are looking for houses and are wondering “Where do I start? The most common way students find housing is online. The majority of listings in the city will be on these sites:

Housing Considerations

When looking for housing for your school year, here are some things to consider:

  1. You want to be close to the school. Our extended hours and rotating lab schedule mean you want to keep your commute as short as possible. Try to find a place in the south end of London. (Westminster, White Oaks, and Pond Mills area) OIART is located in the Westminster neighbourhood of London.
  2. Make sure you live close to a bus route if you are planning on taking public transportation. More importantly, make sure you live close to or on bus routes #10 or #13/13A. That will ensure you only need to take one bus to school. The 10 and the 13 both stop within a 5 minute walk to the school. You do not want to take multiple buses to get to school. Bus routes, schedules and other information about public transit in London can be found here: http://www.londontransit.ca/plan-a-trip/routes-schedules.
  3. Many students share accommodations. The best way to find other students to share a place with is to check the Facebook group for the upcoming year. Once you are enrolled in the program you will receive an invite to join the group. It is the best way to meet and get to know your fellow classmates before school.
  4. We do have a list of places that we strongly recommend you don’t rent. These are places that previous OIART students have had bad experiences with (pest infestations, places in poor repair, bad landlords etc.) These places are often close to the school and come up near the top of your search for a place to live. The list of places you want to avoid can be found in the Facebook group for your year. Once you think you’ve found a place, we recommend you check the Facebook group to see if it is on our “blacklist”

The listings below are rented quick as they are first come first served. Rentals listed below are safe, affordable and located close to the school or on a direct bus route.
