Amidst the success of July Talk’s new release, be on the look out for another hot band on the rise produced by OIART grads. London's Nikki's Wives’ new EP is Produced by Alastair Sims ('10, pictured), Engineered by Alex Krotz ('11) and Mixed by Matty Green ('03). The band were recently on the road with “Crazy” singer Cee-Lo Green. This report from Tom Jackson’s Onstage Blog: “Nikki’s Wives have had some amazing opportunities come their way, starting with a roof-top pre-Super Bowl party; Leather and Laces – billed as the ‘hottest star-studded celebrity big-game event’ in February 2016.  The show was attended by 2500 people, including 25 billionaires, dozens of pro football players, A-list celebrities and Victoria Secret models. One Republic played at the previous nights’ party.”

Here’s a great review of their recent Los Angeles show from The Art of LA:

Nikki’s Wives opens for Ceelo Green at The Roxy, Los Angeles

On Saturday, July 23 alt-pop band Nikki’s Wives performed at the Roxy Theater in Los Angeles as part of Ceelo Green’s “Love Train Tour Pt 2”. The world-famous Roxy was second to the last stop on the two-month tour and it was apparently a big thing for the band who posted on their Facebook page: “@Roxy . . . f-ing dreams coming true tonight.”

Nikki’s Wives’ newly-released EP entitled For E*V*E*R is a “pop-inspired experience” and contains two soon-to-be hits “Ghost” and “Lonely Being Cool”. The album was mixed by Matty Green (The Weekend, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran) and produced by Alistair Sims (Walk Off The Earth, Three Days Grace, Rush).  For E*V*E*R is a multi-layered album of well-crafted songs that evoke emotions like jealousy and lust. As an opening act for a big name like Cee-Lo Green, Nikki’s Wives had the sometimes not so great job of entertaining an audience who were there for the main act, but from the downbeat Nikki’s Wives grabbed hold of the audience and never let go.

With a voice that runs the gamut from raw to tender, Nikki Whitehead leads the pack as a dynamic performer with enviable stage presence. Whitehead is a vocalist who delivers both in performance and connecting with her audience. Dylan Lauzon (guitar/keys) and Whitehead’s chemistry on-stage was unmistakable as they weaved in and out of each others space like a cat and mouse game.  On guitar, Lauzon worked feverishly as he staggered and snarled his lip for the crowd and the rambunctious Nate Baylor on drums, who at one point, slithered on the stage towards Whitehead in what seemed like an improvised stunt.
