Danielle McBride (’96) is the Supervising Sound Editor and Dialogue Editor for the long-running TV Series Degrassi and the new YTV show, Open Heart, which was recently nominated for its first Canadian Screen Award. Perennial favourite Degrassi is nominated for four Canadian Screen Awards this year, and has garnered Emmy nominations in the past. Shown in 140 countries worldwide, Degrassi is one of Canada’s most successful television exports. As Danielle noted, any hour of any day somewhere in the world an episode is being shown. She has personally won 6 Directors’ Guild awards and her work has been nominated 27 times for Directors’ Guild, Motion Picture Sound Editors and Gemini Awards (now Canadian Screen Awards). She has held similar positions on shows including Instant Star and The LA Complex .
One of the most successful graduates working in television and film from the 30 plus year history of OIART’s Audio Production program, Danielle says; “My year at OIART was amazing… the absolute best school to help you build a foundation that will grow into a solid career. Without OIART I’d never be where I am today; working as the Supervising Sound Editor for one of Canada’s longest running and best loved television series, Degrassi. Still to this day I regularly use things I learned here twenty years ago. I’m a ’96 grad and I still consider OIART my home.”
Thank you Danielle, and congratulations on your success!
