Since graduating, Joey has epitomized what we perceive as the ideal student and graduate. He used every detail of the curriculum, followed advice from all instructors and participated in networking opportunities and managed to build a successful career in 12 months - now employing other OIART grads due to the overabundance of work offered to him.

Since graduation, he’s emailed every instructor to inform them that he used their classes and lab materials to problem solve scenarios in all the major areas - Live Sound + Event Production, Music Production, Audio for Visual Media, Acoustics, Computer Maintenance + career management, making himself indispensable to his employers, and solidifying his place in the industry.

Joey has been working in production sound within the IATSE union on The Handmaid’s Tale as well as Star Trek Discovery.

He has informed us that he will be moving forward with more large-scale union productions, as well as starting his own business within the film industry this year.

“Thank you so much. OIART has given me so much and I’m so happy that I have been able use the lessons I learned to not only further my career and passion but also give back to some of the people and organizations that helped me along my journey.

I have to say a huge thanks to the OIART staff because without their continued guidance and support I wouldn’t be where I am. Not only does OIART have an amazing staff but the students that come out of the program are just as insightful and determined to further the industry as you are.

Thank you so much for everything and I can’t wait to see what’s next for my future.”
