As long as he can remember, Ken has been coaxing sounds and rhythms from just about everything at hand, eventually developing an obsession with any and all form of percussion instrument and performance.

Consummately professional and infectiously enthusiastic, Ken’s precision and attention to detail led him into modern recording studios at an early age. There he quickly discovered a gift for enhancing the creative efforts of songwriters, singers, and musicians, coupled with a talent for inspiring them to find the best in themselves.

This is where he met and first worked with Paul Steenhuis as a studio percussionist, producer, composer and assistant engineer. Paul was deeply impressed by Ken’s talents, particularly his ability to see exactly what needed to done to make the best out of every situation. So naturally, when Paul opened OIART in 1983 he had Ken in mind, inviting him to join forces and apply his talents to composing and engineering a new type of school.

Ken’s ability to bring out the best in others continues to be one of OIART’s great strengths. Over the years he’s applied his eye for talent to recruiting the most experienced and passionate faculty and the brightest young students. Today his collaboration with Pete and Paul continues in OIART’s Executive Office as Director of Operations and Strategic Planner, with a single goal in mind: creating an unsurpassed audio engineering and production school.
