A music recording school with authentic roots

In 1983, engineer and producer Paul Steenhuis founded OIART based on the firm belief that an intensive one-year program combining meticulously crafted curriculum with practical studio experience would create an effective training ground for future audio engineers wishing to work in the real world. As it turns out, Paul's instincts were right on.

Over the past two decades, our music recording school has attracted students from around the globe whose common trait is a fierce passion for all things audio. We enhance this passion with the knowledge and experience that empowers our grads to succeed in their chosen field.

We're committed to your success in sound engineering

Our school offers students a total immersion in the art and science of sound recording. In just eleven months our enriched, accelerated curriculum fully prepares our graduates for professional career pursuits in music recording, audio engineering and related fields.

OIART's student-to-teacher ratio of 5 to 1 offers unparalleled access to faculty, more personalized instruction, an abundance of hands-on studio time, and greater support for career development than any comparable program in North America. These are a just a few of the reasons why OIART typically boasts a better than 90% completion rate, and close to a 90% employment placement rate for our grads.
