We managed to catch Michael Hayes (’05) before leaving for Rio to work on the 2016 Summer Olympics. He visited OIART in Semester 3 to talk about his work as a Broadcast Audio A2 and Mixer. Mike has worked on several Stanley Cup finals for Hockey Night in Canada, often avoiding the cameras on ice as the Cup is presented to the winning captain. He has also worked several NHL All Star Games, Drafts. Awards, Outdoor games and countless regular season Leafs games at the Air Canada Centre. He’s worked the Canadian Figure Skating Championships and mixed at horseracing’s The Queen’s Plate, in addition to travelling to Russia to work on the 2014 Sochi games. Mike spoke to the class about the technology, tools and career tips that have taken him inside some of the top sporting events of our time.
