Music Theory
Even if you’re not a musician, as an audio engineer you’ll frequently work with singers, instrumentalists and composers, so communicating fluently in their language is crucial.
In the Music Theory you will learn how music works — the architectural nature of musical pattern making — as well as fundamentals of its verbal and symbolic vocabulary. It may sound esoteric, but this knowledge of chord structures, harmony, meter and rhythm will help with many pragmatic objectives. A solid theoretical grounding will help immensely with numerous studio fundamentals, including accurate editing, real-time punch-ins and programming effects.
